How To Test Inside Out Contact Lens

Written on 12:20 AM by Emperor Optics Sembawang

To test the inside out of Contact Lens, place the lens on the tip of your finger.

Left : Correct Side ("Bowl" Shape)

Right : Wrong Side (Sides flare out)

Notice how flatter and different is the edge of the lens compared to the correct side.

Another method of testing would be gently pinching the edge of the lens together.

Left: Correct Side (Edge of lens bends inwards)

Right: Wrong Side (Edge resist bending inwards)

Also, certain brand of contact lens has laser markings on their lens to help identify the correct side.

Generally, contact lens worn inside out should not cause any real damage to the eye. Even so, it is still important to check the lens before you wear them as inside out lens will reduce the effectiveness of your lens, causing discomforts and affecting the overall performance of your contact lens.
